ACUTE EXPOSURE INFORMATION

  1. Isobutyronitrile produces its systemic toxicity by metabolically releasing CYANIDE after absorption. It is also a primary irritant of the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract.
    1. Coma, seizures, retrograde amnesia, dilated pupils, hypoventilation, shock, cyanosis, initial tachycardia and hypertension, and hypotension may be seen.
    1. Nausea, vomiting, hepatotoxicity, and metabolic acidosis may be noted. Percutaneous absorption occurs.
